Play, learn and grow together
Welcome to Fourth and Fifth Class
Class Teacher: Elaine Downey
10 at 10 was enjoyed by all in our class. We stepped it out to different dances for a full
ten minutes on Feburary 10th at ten o'clock!

The theme for February was 'Friendship' and we learned how to make friendship bracelets.
We are reading The Story of Anne Frank at the moment and learning about World War 2.
Miya brought in this gas mask for us all to see. The original package outlines the instructions.
We found it very interesting.

Reading Buddies:
During Book Week Fifth class really enjoyed reading with Senior Infants while Fourth class
read their own choice of book to Second Class. We also designed a new book cover for our favourite
books. We got tips online from famous authors to improve our writing and had a book character parade
where we dressed up as characters from books we like to read.

Spring has sprung!
We read the poem 'Daffodils' by William Wordsworth, picked our favourite line and painted the image
that it created in our minds. We also learned all about the types of clouds we see in the sky and wrote
our own Haiku poems on the theme 'Clouds'. A Haiku poem has 3 lines with 5 syllables on the first line,
7 syllables on the second line and 5 syllables on the third line.

TSI Literacy
We have started reading novels in small groups using the TSI (Transactional Strategy Instruction) model.
We are enjoying sharing our reading experience while using different comprehension strategies.

Theme for May-Wellbeing
We made mindful jars to help calm our busy minds!

3D Shape
We had a class competition to see what groups could make the most 3 D shapes.

4th/ 5th did an amazing job on their Famine projects. Well done!
